The Ford Fusion Hybrid, America’s most fuel-efficient, mid-sized sedan was driven by a team of Ford hybrid engineers, the fuel efficiency expert Wayne Gerdes and a NASCAR star Carl Edwards. At 9:08 a.m. on Monday morning they passed the 1,000 mile mark with a single tank of gas with nearly one-third of a tank of fuel remaining. That’s 80 miles per gallon.
